Call me CJ :) I am a postdoctoral research fellow, fortunate enough to finish my PhD and join the Kishida Lab just in time for the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout undergraduate (ASU) and graduate (UMMSoM) school, I was active in hands-on research, ranging from physics and optics to medicine and neurophysiology. My time at UM allowed me to combine my interests in physics and neuroscience while also exposing me to medical education within the department of Physiology & Biophysics. Moving forward, working in the Kishida Lab allows me to utilize my research and educational experiences to explore my interests in several areas, including voltammetry and neuroimaging. My current work with voltammetry aims to optimize models for analysis of neurotransmission during Deep Brain Stimulation surgeries, primarily for patients living with Parkinson’s Disease. My interests with neuroimaging involve the analysis of structural and functional networks within the brain, made possible through the use of functional MRI. I am also passionate about collaborating with and helping my labmates with anything for their lab projects and school. Outside of lab, life pretty much revolves around my dog, Calypso. We enjoy hiking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and most other outdoor activities.
