I’m a sophomore undergraduate Graylyn scholar interested in the neurobiological mechanisms underlying human decision. In high school, I did a summer internship studying the role of the neuropeptide galanin in mouse brain development in Dr. Patricia Jensen’s Lab at NIEHS. During my first year at Wake, my initial interest in neurobiology grew into a deep fascination with the neurological underpinnings of higher cognitive processes like decision-making and learning. Since joining the lab, I have enjoyed learning how these complex processes can be studied using computational methods and their potential clinical applications. I am excited to continue conducting data analysis as I study how reward prediction errors influence adaptive learning and decision-making, and I hope to build upon my computational studies using neuroimaging. In addition to neuroscience, I also enjoy drawing and painting, and am passionate about using art to enhance science communication. In high school, I published an educational cell biology coloring book on Amazon called Cellfies. In my free time I like to sketch, play pick-up soccer, and bake “healthy” desserts.
