My name is Rachel, and I first came to Wake to pursue my unequivocal interests of neuroscience and public health through the HDND program. As a transitioning PhD student, I will continue taking public health courses while implementing novel neurocomputational approaches that predict individualized treatment outcomes of patients who undergo electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for depression. After I construct clinically-reliable models for this patient population, I plan to attend medical school and later use my research skill set to treat my own patients. To unify my career endeavours, I will use my public health knowledge to advocate for the underserved in my own community and implement policy change at a local level. As you can see, neuroscience, public health, and clinical application lie at the forefront of my lifelong passions. In my free time I like to go on runs, play pick-up volleyball, ride jet skis at the lake, and travel with friends. Feel free to connect with me using one of the links provided!
